Initially, I was not keen on using Sountrap for music production simply because I am used to using alternative DAWs such as voice memos and Bandlab. Now that I have worked with the platform, I realize how much more efficient and straightforward it is. I particularly like the feature of multiple tracks that can be edited separately and easily merged by copying and pasting. This feature also allows me to hear the tracks on their own or all together, which makes layering easy.
The editing portion is the most challenging, specifically the volume adjustments and the split region option. When merging clips, I noticed that you could not edit the audio or effects separately for each one. Because of this, it was difficult to keep the audio consistent since the audio quality was different in each take. To access the split region, you need to press edit on the clip, go up to the menu setting, select edit, and then press split region. While doing my project, clicking edit on the clip was the part I continuously overlooked. Looking back at it now, I think it’s an unnecessary feature that wastes time. I am sure there is a way around these problems, but I found these features difficult to maneuver as a beginner.
These features provided by Soundtrap will assist me well in my music production journey. The platform is easy to navigate and perfect for someone like me with little experience.
